One of my favorite things to do is cook with someone. It’s not for everyone but it’s fun… especially if neither of you are very good at it.
Ditch the boxed brownies and try homemade pizzas. You can buy the dough from your local grocery store, and can make any of the other ingredients you’d like. There’s no shame in using store-bought sauce too. It makes it easier!
I’m fortunate enough to not have not only a chef for a boyfriend, but also someone who lovesssss to make absolutely everything from scratch. Getting him to agree to use store-bought pizza dough was even a stretch. It was a time saver, though!
Check out my walk-through video on instagram of how we made these ADORABLE pizzas.
let’s get cookin’.
We blanched the tomatoes (I’m learning so many new phrases, thanks Nate) by boiling them to make the skin easier to peel off, then tossing them into a pot to cook. He did the mashing with his hands, to make our tomatoes the perfect saucy consistency. Add in some salt + sugar, and you’ve got yourself a pizza sauce.
The dough balls were kind of hard to get into shape! Ours were just massive… and a little thick. You’re supposed to knead it, roll it out, and then do your *best* to get it in a heart shape. It’s harder than you think when the dough keeps bouncing back and rising.
We topped off our pizzas with homemade sauce, mozzarella cheese, basil, prosciutto, and I put honey + red pepper flakes on half of mine. The other half got balsamic glaze. They were both SO good!
Pour yourself a glass of wine and put on that rom com 😉
