The 4 Best Pizza Shops in Florence, Italy

The fresh, fulfilling pizza in Italy is unlike anything you’ll find in the United States. It lacks the deep-dish grease that turns your stomach, and can actually be considered one of the healthy options in the Mediterranean diet.

Where to Get Mouth-Watering Pizza in Florence

While I was in Florence, many of the small shops had not reopened since the COVID-19 shutdown. Other had limited hours. However, I did make it to some of the best pizza places I’ve ever been to.

Pizza Napoli

Just a few steps from Piazza della Signoria, this place has savory pizza for great prices.

I tried their Four Cheese Pizza and was immediately in love. Sometimes I just want a good, cheesy sauce instead of a tomato-based dish, and I was not disappointed here. This pizza is topped with mozzarella, pecorino, gorgonzola and fontina cheeses, along with fresh basil.

PizzAgnolo

This little place has some of my favorite pizza pies. Looking to try that burrata pizza? This is the place.

I was surprised to find that their pizza dough is gluten free. I never would have guessed, because it has one of the fluffiest crusts I’ve tasted here. Their doughs are made from 100% natural flours and whole wheat, with no additives.

This is the first place I saw potatoes on the menu. Italians love sliced potatoes on their pizza. While I was hesitant at first, I was curious to see if my favorite foods would compliment each other. Their spicy salami pizza is also a great pick, and even their margarita pizza is to die for, a classic Italian favorite.

Gusta Pizza

“If you haven’t been there yet, you’re missing out on good pizza,” a new friend of mine told me. Not even a week later, I heard the same thing from another friend. I scribbled down the name of the place with every intention to go ASAP.

This place is to die for. One of my friends isn’t a huge fan of pizza, but this is her go-to place. Their doughy, flavorful pizza is a big hit for both locals and visitors. Their menu has a lot to offer, despite the small size of the place. Aren’t the little, family-owned places just always the best? One of my favorites is topped with buffalo mozzarella, fresh basil and fresh, sliced tomatoes.

Mister Pizza

This modern pizza shop is amazing. While this may be more of a tourist’s go-to than a local’s, it’s still delicious nonetheless. Mister Pizza has a few locations around Florence, with one directly next to the Duomo. I’ve stopped by to pick up a pizza a few times because it’s so convenient.

Not a single choice on their extensive menu is a bad one. Their marinara pizza, while simple, is so rich in flavor. If you’re looking for customizations on your pizza, they’ll even let you “build your own pie.” Mister Pizza is always fresh, easy, and never disappoints. They’ve grown their business to expand to three different locations around Florence, and for good reason!

Try it for yourself!

Add these to your Italy Bucket List. Dare you.

Yours Truly,

Cat Taylor
